Locksmith Service Paddington Brisbane

I called this locksmith to ask for a quote to remove a window lock (I didn’t have the key). I made it clear on the phone that I was only asking for a quote and it wasn’t urgent. The job was in Red Hill and the locksmith is based in Paddington. The staff member I spoke with was Issac. I asked about the price differences between a weekend vs weekday job. He told me the call-out fee was $20 on weekdays and $80 on weekends. I said I could book on a weekday. He then offered to come immediately at the weekday rate since he was free and could be there in about 10 minutes. 2) I asked how much should I expected to pay? , what’s the cost? He said $50–$60. I also checked if bank transfer was okay since I didn’t have cash, and he said he preferred cash but transfer was fine. He arrived in about 10 minutes and used a small tool to cut a slot into the screw and remove the lock. The actual work took around 2–3 minutes. However, after finishing he told me the total was $100. He explained it as $30 call-out + $60 labour + GST, which was very different from the $50–$60 estimate I was given on the phone. The call-out fee was also changed from the $20 weekday rate he initially mentioned. When I asked why the full cost was not explained earlier, he said the $50–$60 only referred to labour, which was never made clear during the phone conversation. He didn’t give any explanation and said “The price I’m telling you now is the full price.” In total, the job involved roughly 10 minutes travel to my place, 2-3 minutes work, and about 10 minutes travel back to Paddington (if traveling back if needed?) — around 23 minutes maximum including return travels. The price is extremely high. The work itself was effective as a small task, but the pricing communication was extremely unclear and misleading. This ended up being a frustrating, unpleasant experience. Personally I will not use this service provider again. Just sharing here for anyone who wants to hire them - remember to ask for the full total price (including call-out fees and GST) and in a clearly written form to aide your decision making process.
